New Delhi: The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry has finally decided to take the issue of ragging, which has been of immense concern for both the academic as well as the administrative authorities for long, head on.

The nine-member committee, headed by former CBI director R K Raghavan, on Friday sought public suggestions on how to deal with ragging in educational institutions.

A public discussion on ragging is scheduled be held in Bhopal on February 12 and the committee will take suggestions in verbal or written form.

The committee will examine the means and methods of ragging, possible action against the perpetrators and against the authorities — college or the university — where such incidents occur.

The HRD Ministry has finally decided to take the issue of ragging head on.

The HRD ministry had on November 27 formed the anti-ragging committee following an order from the Supreme Court.
