New Delhi: The Government said on Friday it would deal 'firmly' with those found guilty by the Srikrishna Commission on the 1993 communal riots in Mumbai.

"No stone will be left unturned and we will deal with those found guilty (by the Commission) very firmly," Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi said responding to the issue raised by CPI-M leader Hannan Mollah during the Zero Hour.

He said UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was "seriously concerned" over the matter and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh had said the recommendations have been partly complied with and his government would soon take action on the pending recommendations.

It has been nine years since the report had been submitted, but no action has yet been taken on the report which had identified 31 police personnel as well as some others who engineered the riots, Mollah said.

Claiming that the police personnel identified had since been promoted and not punished, he urged the government to assure that the recommendations would be implemented and those found guilty punished immediately as the delay was "sending wrong signals to the minority community".
