New Delhi: A day after the exit polls, the odds in Gujarat's satta bazaar (betting market) are shortening on the BJP getting a majority.
Before the second round of polling, bookmakers were offering just 30 paise on the BJP getting 90 seats and crossing the half way mark. The going rate is now down to just 8 to 10 paise.
The odds are higher on the BJP getting a 100 seats, but still lower than pre-poll odds. This again suggests that bookmakers see this as a likely possibility.
For Chief Minister Naredra Modi to repeat 2002 seems more difficult. For 125 seats, the going rate is Rs 5.50, which means for a Re 1 bet, a person would get Rs 6.50 paise.
But the odds are lengthening for the Congress. To get even 80 seats, the bookies are offering Rs 4.50.
