New Delhi: Rohtak Range Inspector General of Police Anil Dabra, Superintendent of Police Hanief Qureshi and Deputy Superintendent of Police M Sethia have been transferred in connection with the Panchkula rape and suicide case.

The state government has also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family of Sarita - the rape victim who committed suicide outside Panchkula Police Headquarters on Monday.

The 25-year-old mother of two minor girls, died at a hospital later. She left behind a note alleging that the police did not take any action against the two constables who raped her in April.

Relatives of the victim insist that they won't cremate Sarita's body till the accused policemen are arrested.

On Tuesday the two Haryana policemen - head constable Balraj Singh and constable Seelak Ram - accused of raping Sarita were dismissed from service.

The dismissed policemen are still on the run.

The incident happened when Sarita went to the police station to free her husband Subhash who was reportedly framed in a motorcycle theft. The cops then had allegedly demanded Rs 6000 for his release.
