Here's something you didn't know about Daimler

VROOMING VAN: The British marque acquired the brand in 1960 from British Motor Syndicate.
Mumbai: If you thought Daimler is just German, think again. There's a non-German Daimler, which is an arm of Jaguar Cars.
The British marquee acquired the brand in 1960 from British Motor Syndicate, but it was one Frederick Simms of London who first acquired patent rights of the name for Britain from Daimler AG.
Daimler Cars has only one model, the super powerful Daimler Super Eight which sells for £81,600 sterling.
It's the creme-de-la-creme from the exclusive Jaguar garage. British Daimlers have served royal families in Britain, Denmark, Sweden and even Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.
Last year 330 of the 75,000 cars sold by Jaguar were Daimlers and Jaguar expects sales of 260 units this year. For Jaguar's buyer it would be more than a name, a title.
