Samba (Jammu and Kashmir): In an operation lasting over seven hours, security forces killed two holed-up terrorists and rescued six hostages, including two children, after storming a house in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Heavy exchange of fire took place between security forces and the terrorists who fired two rockets from inside the house wounding a jawan and partially damaging a school building, official sources said.
Before taking shelter in the house, the ultras killed a local political leader, his wife and a lensman of an English daily in the district.
As security forces reached the area where the politician and his wife were killed, a fierce gun battle ensued in which an ultra and a jawan were killed, the sources said.
The terrorists had sneaked from across the border into Jammu region on Friday.
