Serena Williams registered a comprehensive win at the 2008 Bangalore Open final beating Patty Schnyder in straight sets for her first WTA title of the year. She spoke to CNN-IBN’s Rupha Ramani after the win.
Rupha Ramani: First time in India and you win the tournament. How does it feel?
Serena Williams: It feels great. Obviously I had a good time here and it went really well.
Rupha Ramani: How does it feel as the final was very easy? A straight sets win.
Serena Williams: In the first set it was not easy. I was moving a lot and Patty played really good. But it was really great to get it over in straight sets.
Rupha Ramani: Which has been the toughest match in the entire tournament for you.
Serena Williams: Definitely playing Venus was the toughest match. It was really a battle of wills. We both had match points and it was just like 'oh what to do?'
Rupha Ramani: How do you feel winning with her around?
Serena Williams: I feel really great to win the tournament with her around and I felt like she would have won. So I had a little more pressure on myself.
Rupha Ramani: The crowd was rooting for you from Day I. Does that help?
Serena Williams: It definitely helps. The crowd was really rooting. It was awesome. It was really exciting.
