Gtfsus This govt. has so many other important issue to deal with. You should not blame the govt. while leaving...you should praise them that they saved you with so much security. What happened to you in your country ..didn't you get the media attention you wanted. Evverybody likes this country bcoz its easy to make name here. easy to fool the people here. We r so happy you finally left our country. We do not need to read about you in news paper anymore. I wish our govt. will get enough time to get back to business now. Good job Mr. External affair minister.

Rakesh Every time i read stories like this it make me really very shameful. How can i tell whole world that i am from a country which never respect foreigner. We have seen how we behave a British mother who lost her daughter and now it Taslima. I think Taslima should come to USA. In here people don't care about religion but they care more about the talent which a u have.

veerdatt It is horrifying first person story of Ms Taslima Nasrin of her confinement due to so called security reasons as reported all along by Govt. Her illness and ordeal in Hospitals were never reported even by media. She passed through worse than a solitary confinement of a person before the execution. After all she is a Writer of International repute, having guts to right some truth about conditions of minorities in Bangladesh and some thing about Muslim clergy. She is not a terrorist. Even worst terrorists are not denied contact to a doctor while hospitalised. He remains in contact with doctor, who attends him. All norms of decencies have been denied to her just to appease CPI so that UPA remains intact. It is SHAMEFUL for INDIA, which claims to be at pinnacle of SECULARISM. After all what was her crime? The Govt is afraid of Muslims and Left Parties, which supports the Govt. It is strange on the part of CPI, which claim themselves to be torch bearer of secularism to have behaved this way. It is equally strange that women organisations also have not taken Taslima's case with the Govt. Ms Brinda Karat, who is champion of women's cause must retrospect. Media also failed in its duty of not reporting the horroring tail of Taslima Nasrin except that she is kept at a undisclosed place for her security. Her solitary confinement and illness was never reported. It was only yesterday that a passing reference was made that she is planning to leave India. Media and other social organisations must take up her case and make Govt both at centre and West Bengal to restore her lost Home in Calcutta with honour.

Minhaj Well, it was her choice to come over to India, the objective as I understand is business. Though she may not have become completely successful, she gained sufficient publicity as a writer. She ended up hurting the sentiments of people. Even at that point she was free to move out of India, but she opted to stay back. Today she should realize that if she steps out freely her life could be in danger. If she cannot understand that, our government did, and therefore taking the cost of providing her adequate security. Instead of creating another controversy blaming the government she should exit with whatever grace if at all is remaining in her.

sanchi Shame on pseudo-secular week-kneed, spineless, Indian Government that cannot preserve Indian values of freedom.

This government, which has betrayed the aspirations of the majority, has its days numbered. It must be brought down and thrown into obliviuon for eternity by the power of vote in the coming elections.

Ranita Through your medium, I would like to convey the feelings of a majority of the people to Taslima, that we do not approve of the way this govt has treated you. We are ashamed but helpless. Its very sad that this is the India we now live in. You, Taslima, will be better off abroad where people will appreciate you and welcome you.

more Manish Taslima, yiu should be grateful to India & should gracefully leave the country on thanking note. All her complain are because she is not getting media attention, not able to reach in focus of camera lights. I agree that the freedom of speech is all you need but dont mess with peace of country. We all people form different religion are part of one India & want to keep ourselves aside for all your tantrums about Muslim fundamentalism. Good luck to you & your new destination.
PS- Write about poors not muslims. Open a school for girls in afaghanistan by the money you made so far. I am sure your health will improve very fast.

Sameer Wow!!! And I thought India is a free democratic state. Wonder where we are going with this mindset to appease votebanks at all costs. What is Taslima's fault? Where is freedom of speech? And the fanatics who threatened to behead her are walking scot-free on the street.

God Save India!!!

Srikar It was all very realistic at the begining, but now..i guess guaging the sensitivity of situation and international eye on human right, tasleema is just trying to get media attention. She is a guest in this country and should respect the lie of the land. Bon-Voyage writer.

shi It is a matter of national shame that a writer is forced to leave a country she so dearly loves. So much for free speech and secularism - congress style. BJP for it's flaws is not wrong when it terms Congress and communists as pseudo scecularists.
