New Delhi: The Los Angeles Times calls it "The only award show for Internet sites that matters", the New York Times calls it the "Oscars of the Internet" and in its 12th year now, the Webby Awards are getting bigger.

This year is particularly special as ibnlive.com has been named an Official Honoree in the news category of the 12th Annual Webby Awards (Check out the list here).

With the 2007 PC World Award and News Television Awards already in our kitty, you are now officially reading one of the world's top/best news websites.

(Let us know you better, Take our survey)

"The Official Honoree distinction is awarded to work that scores in the top 15 per cent of all work entered into the Webby Awards. With nearly 10,000 entries received from all 50 states and over 60 countries, this is an outstanding accomplishment for you and your team," says Webby Executive Director David-Michel Davies.

While five sites were named as Nominees for the best news category - including heavyweights BBC.co.uk, NYTimes.com and CNN.com - with the winner to be announced next month, ibnlive.com is one of the 14 sites to be named as Official Honorees in the category. Being infants in the Internet news world, this is a special achievement for our team here.

The awards are judged by a global organisation that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, AKQA Global Creative Director Rei Inamoto, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser.

We are the only Indian website to be selected in the Official Honoree category and share the space with respected news sites like guardian.co.uk, reuters.com, boston.com and huffingtonpost.com.
