Akola (Maharashtra): After CNN-IBN reported on the plight of a farmer in Vidarbha district of Maharshtra forced to fill in for his bullock to plough fields, help has been pouring in.

The image of a battered Shamkar Daberao seems to have touched a chord with people around the country.

Prakash Tendulkar, a railway employee in Mumbai, took the problem by the horns and decided to help Daberao.

Tendulkar owns a farm in Murbad and has offered his favourite bull Nandi to the farmer.

"After watching the story on CNN-IBN, I immediately decided to donate a bull which I had in my farm. That was the least I could do,” Tendulkar says.

Uday Pratap Singh is another good Samaritan who came forward to help this farmer. Singh took the responsibility of transporting the bull from Murbad to Akola where Daberao says.

"I saw the story aon CNN-IBN and was pained by the poor farmers plight that's when i contacted the Channel and offered to transport the bull to Akola,” says Singh.

After 12 hours and 600 km of journey, Nandi finally reached the Daberaos heralding good times for the family.

“We are grateful to the people and CNN-IBN for their help and support,” Daberao says.

What started out as a news story has ended up as a life-saver for this family.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of viewers of CNN-IBN and readers at IBNLive.com.
