Quota...why can we not have a fair system ...60 years on theses fools who sit in parliament and their blind followers who know only one thing POLITICAL CORRECTNESS and VOTES which obviously makes them RICH. I feel so strongly that there should be drastic change ...As Gandhiji said "if you want to see the change ,let the change be you "If he was alive today he would have regreted his words! In GREAT INDIA if you try to change anything it does not and I done really think it will till we get rid of all these honourable(I am not using the ELITE words i would love to use as my blog wont appear here if i use them...DEMOCRACY)white clad ,kadi clad politicians from parliament and get some nationalist people...! QUOTA WILL PUT INDIA DOWN THE DRAIN...!

Hi frns,
Let me tell you my own experience of few years back, my brother got rank less than 100 architecture entrance exam(A.P), there will be very less seats JNTU. He was worried that he will get seat in university or not. There we met other person, he came there in car for college interview, his rank was above 300. He got seat in university, but my brother didn't got in university. This is all about reservation(cast basis). I accept about the economy based reservation. I think it will also not work because it is very easy to show my earning as less than i actually earn. This total reservation is a political tool, especially congress government are real politicians, they are doing all this things to get votes out of these things, other example of this government is increasing pay of central government employees. They are doing all these things as elections are in near future. Only one question to all people who are supporting this reservation "WILL YOU GO TO ANY GOOD DOCTOR or A DOCTOR WHO IS NOT VERY EFFICIENT or WHO HAVE HALF KNOWLEDGE??"

By excluding the creamy layer the Supreme Court has foolishly foresaken the poor among the upper castes. They will now have to compete for 50.5% of seats (as opposed to 77.5% before) with the rich OBC's and the rich among the upper castes.

It seems the fight is against intellectuals besides upper caste. Otherwise the emphasis would have been primary, secondary schools not IITs and IIMs. Rajiv Gandhi was probably last sensible person in Congress to predict division of society. I doubt if Nehru started IITs for all this war against merit and quality.

For all those people who say Tamilnadu has got 69% reservation so it has done well in economic side is dumb.Tamilnadu govt has made a great work in industrialization i am all praise to that .But because of there reservation policy general caste is getting affected seriously .I AM saying this because ,A FRIEND WHO HAS DONE +2 WITH ME HAS GOT SAME CUTOFF BUT GOT A BETTER COLLEGE .WE STUDIED IN SAME SCHOOL SAME TEACHER TAUGHT US WE WERE IN A SAME CLASS ROOM BUT WHEN WE WENT OUT HE HAD A TICKET CALLED RESERVATION THAT I DIDNT HAVE.I have no problem if some poor guy gets reservation but why should a guy studied in a good private school is having reservation.

The reservation is not applicable to minority institutions. While they will admit students from forward communities also by imposing restrictions on cultural symbols and dress codes including preventing them applying ash or kumkum on the forehead by collecting hefty fees, they will not admit BC/SC/ST students on reservation system. Is this not an apartheid in the worst form? Moreover, why not politicians pass a law that all SC/ST students who came through reservation in medical institutions should be the personal physicians of politicians?

I welcome the the supreme court ruling for OBC reservation. But I also feel that supreme court is reluctant to take a stand against injustices committed by governmnet and avoid controversies.
If there is any sense of justice left supreme court should imemditaely take a strong stand in following issues without fear or favor.
1. Reservations are meant for Socially AND educationally backward classes. How can a son/daughter of a graduate degree holder be educationally deemed Backward?
2. How can someone who is a graduate deemed educationally backward? Supreme court should not allow for convinient and bizzare intrepretation by governmnet to appease vote bank. This will make OBC reservations in Post graduate courses like AIIMS and IIM illegal.
3. In Tamil Nadu reservations are 69%. Supreme court has ruled that anything above 50% reservation is discrimination, against equality and against basic structure of consititution. Why is supreme court not doing anything about it?

KARTHIGAYEN. G
I cant understand here we are talking about equality and secularism or the basic need for a student - education.. Like its for a humanbeing as food, water and clothes. How many people outthere reallty know whatis a politics and who make leaders. The leaders dont give unless until its asked,so the quota didn't come from a ploitician's mind its the public who asked for (includes me or whoever is reading this). People talk about the persons who have misutilized the quotas or the students who are working hard for the seats through general quotas...but have you ever thought how much of OBCs are affected without quotas.Dont forget the OBCs what are we talking about consists of socailly, economically, literally backward people compared to the higher class people.Uplifting even one poor is worth all.Yes, i do believe its injustice to deprive the higher class people of quotas. But see the SC's decision they have included the creamy layer exclusion (one point does considers the economy background)People with annual salary more than 2.5 lacs to be excluded.. the society is for all and in all means the justice has to be a balanced decision. For a secular country like INDIA its the best decision keeping in mind the class and the economic background of the people. Whereas the Government can try to narrow down the OBCs list..let Implement strict survey rules and avoid frodgery so that the actual people get the benefit...Making comments is the easiest task but taking a decision in indian politics and for indian judiciary its the most toughest, to keep all in mind and avoid hastiness to the maximum level...this is a solution...the creamy layer list can be concentrated every five years ( make a strict rule) which after about 3 decades there would be no need of the quotas including the SCs and STs because all will be under the same creamy layer..This will uplift the country growth in more dynamic way..rather than lasting in collisions among ourselves...

It was amusing to see the Tamilnadu OBC group represented by Smt Jayanti Natarajan and Mr PS Krishnan spar with others on the quota issue.
It is unfortunate the court did not order a review now, because in Tamilnadu the political class does not want to subject its quota system to rational and open examination.
Same can be said of my state of Kerala, although it is not as bad in Kerala.
