BSY case: HC notice to Datta, Lokayukta police

The High Court on Friday ordered issuance of notice to complainant and JD (S) leader Y S V Datta and Lokayukta police in connection with the petition filed by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to quash the complaint against him filed by Datta.Datta had alleged that irregularities were committed in allotting tender in upper Bhadra project on September 5, 2011.Hearing the petition, Justice Nagmohan Das also gave exemption to Yeddyurappa from appearing in Lokayukta Court next week and adjourned the petition.Datta alleged that the project was awarded to the highest bidder, a private firm RNS Jyothi at Rs 1,033 crore Objections to Be Filed in KIADB CaseThe HC directed Lokayukta police to file objections following a criminal petition filed by former IT /BT minister Katta Subramanya Naidu seeking to quash the complaint, FIR and charge-sheet against him on Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board scam.Justice Nagmohan Das adjourned the petition to September 26.Liquour sale: Notice to DG&IGPThe HC on Friday ordered issuance of notices to DG & IGP, Excise Department chief secretary following a PIL alleging illegal sale of liquor in bars and restaurants and violation of Excise and Police Act.Petitioner Bhavni Ram Prasad contended that the HC on 2010, had directed strict implementation of the Excise Act. But two years after the HC order, the state government had failed to initiate any action against wine stores, hotels and dhabas serving liquor without licences and charging more than MRP for liquor.Hearing the petition, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Virkramjit Sen and Justice BV Nagarathna directed the authorities to take action and file a report and adjourned the case for further hearing.Bellary votes: Plaint alleges irregularitiesThe complainant M Chandre Gowda again approached the HC on Friday alleging that the recounting of votes in Bellary constituency to Lok Sabha was not conducted according to the law.The petitioner contended that according to HC directions, the Bellary Deputy Commissioner had conducted the recounting of votes but he had not followed the directions during the course. Shantha had defeated Congress leader N Y Hanumanthappa in the 2009 LS polls. It can be recalled that Justice H Billappa has set aside Shanthas election and order for recounting of votes.
