Complainant's Facebook post helps Bangalore police catch molesters

Bangalore: Social networks are rendering an invaluable helping hand to the police forces in the latter's bid to better the law and order situation in India's cities. Two individuals, who reportedly harassed two women in Bangalore on last Saturday (March 9, 2013), before zipping away on their motorbike, were picked up by the Bangalore City Police personnel on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, after a photograph of the duo and the registration , clicked by a friend of the two women, was posted on the Bangalore City Police's Facebook page on Monday (March 11, 2013).
The man, who posted the photograph on Monday, included the following text in the post.
"On Saturday afternoon I was crossing the road with 2 of my female friends at the signal in front of Raheja residency, these two boys started eve teasing them. I have taken a photo of them, along with the bike number. I hope the police takes action against them. The girls are willing to testify as well.
I hope the Bangalore Police takes action...and make my city safer again."
On Wednesday afternoon, the Bangalore City Police page managers shared the post with the following update: "We are glad to inform you that the two accused have been identified and are currently in police custody for further interrogation."
Delhi Police and Kolkata Police have also been pretty active on their Facebook pages and have followed up on complaints posted on them.
