New Delhi: Animation film 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' is a musical comedy based on Dr. Seuss' book of the same name. The film is already released in overseas market, and now the makers are all set to get it released in India this Friday. In the US, the film was released on March 2, the 108th birth anniversary of Seuss'. This is the fourth film based on the writer's books.
The story is about a 12 year old boy Ted Wiggins (Zac Efron) who lives in the walled city of 'Thneed Villae'. This city is completely artificial in every aspect. The plastic nature of the city makes Ted's life difficult who wants to make the girl of his dreams happy. The girl of his desire is Audrey (Taylor Swift) who wants to see a real tree. However, a close relative reveals to Ted that their city is separated from the outside world due to the contamination of the environment.
Nothing deters the boy from talking to Once-ler (Ed Helms) who describes his experiences of the outside world to Ted. But, to pursue his wish is not easy for Ted because the mayor of 'Thneed Villae', Aloysius O'Hare (Rob Riggle) pressurises him to not go for a real tree. The mayor is also the owner of a bottled oxygen company and doesn't want anyone to know about the real environment.
Onceler's stories make Ted curious about an orange creature The Lorax (Danny DeVito) who gets mentioned in almost all the stories.
Directed by Chris Renaud and Kyle Balda, the film was received with enthusiasm in the US, but its performance in India will be figured out only after a week.
