Nawaz Sharif holds high-level meeting to review security issues

Pakistan's highest decision-making body on security issues, on Thursday, met for the first time since Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif assumed office and reviewed tensions with India on the Line of Control.
The Defence Committee of the Cabinet also reviewed the security situation in Pakistan and matters related to the war against terrorism during a meet chaired by Sharif.
The meeting, attended by the top civil and military leadership, discussed recent tensions on the LoC, the regional situation and foreign policy issues, officials said.
This was the first meeting of the committee since Sharif became premier in June after his PML-N party swept the general election.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Khalid Shamim Wyyne the three service chiefs and members of the committee nominated by the Prime Minister attended the meeting.
Sharif has retained the portfolios of defence and foreign affairs and represented these ministries.
