Watching Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth together on screen remains a fantasy for many till date. With both actors not giving filmgoers any hope of seeing them in a movie together, we have no hope but to look forward to re-runs of their films.
In that sense, there is news to rejoice. 'Ninaithalae Inikkum', the film that the duo acted in, will soon be released in the digital format. The successful run of ace actor Sivaji Ganesans mythological flick Karnan has opened a new market for superhits of yesteryear. Combining the lure of the past with the craze for watching the Superstar and Ulaganayagan on screen, makers of Ninaithalae Inikkum have decided to re-release the film.Directed by K Balachander in 1979, 'Ninaithalae Inikkum' featured Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth as musicians of a band that goes to perform in Singapore. While Kamal Haasan played the singer of the troupe, Rajinikanth played the guitarist. The movie was received well for its comedy and music. The songs, for which M S Viswanathan scored music, were a huge hit.The negative of the movie is to be enhanced to be converted into the Qube format. The audio will also be digitised and presented in Dolby Stereo Surround. A number of technicians are working to provide colour upgradation and enhance the quality to ensure that the current generation watches it without hassles on screen. Director Balachander and M S Viswanathan are expected to talk about the digitisation of Ninaithalae Inikkum soon.Meanwhile, the conversion of Rajinikanths Sivaji to 3D format seems to be progressing fine. Work is underway at Prasad Labs in Chennai and Rajinikanth seems to have been excited about Sivaji 3D after watching the excerpts. The 3D version is expected to hit the screens in September.
