Recovered Kubica to test a Mercedes DTM car

Frankfurt: Former Formula One driver Robert Kubica is getting back on a racing circuit for the first time since an accident put his career on hold nearly two years ago.
Mercedes say Kubica will test one of their cars from the German Touring Car (DTM) circuit. Thursday's test will take place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia.
Kubica says it is too early to speculate whether he would be able to return to racing. "I'm looking forward to getting acclimated to a race car again in real test conditions on a circuit," Kubica said in the Mercedes statement. "But it's still too early to make any statements about my future because of this one test. I'm just looking forward to tomorrow and we'll see what happens after that."
The Polish driver had his right hand partially severed and fractured his elbow, shoulder and leg in the accident on the Ronde di Andora rally on February 6, 2011. The 28-year-old Pole, who has undergone several operations, has since taken part in a number of national rallies as part of his lengthy recovery.
Kubica competed in 76 F1 races for BMW and Renault, with his only victory coming in Canada in 2008.
