Slumdog Millionaire bags 2 more US film awards

New Delhi: Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire has bagged yet another honour, this time the film won the the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by the cast of a Motion Picture at the 15th Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
This award for Outstanding Performance by the cast of a Motion Pictures includes actors Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and the child actors from the film apart from it's lead Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. And predictably the team was jubilant at their latest win.
"Being nominated was overwhelming but winning it is unbelievable," says Anil Kapoor.
The latest win comes right after the film's producer Christian Colson won the Darryl F Zanuck Producer of the Year award at the Producers Guild of America on Saturday.
Previously the film had bagged four Golden Globe trophies including Best Motin Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and also Best Original Score for A R Rahman. Winning top honours at the Screen Actors's Guild awards and the Producers Guild of America has now strengthened Slumdog Millionaires'chances at the Oscars and the Baftas where the film has been nominated in 10 and 11 categories respectively.
Amongst other winners at the SAG event - Sean Penn won the Best Actor trophy for his turn as US politician Harvey Milk in the film Milk and Meryl Streep took home the Best Actress trophy for her role as a nun in the Roman Catholic drama Doubt.
Kate Winslet was honoured for best supporting actor female for her role as a Nazi guard with a secret past in The Reader and the late Heath Ledger won the Best Supporting Actor trophy yet again for his Joker act in The Dark Knight.
And in a lighter vein, the colour chosen by the ladies for the evening was blue as leading ladies Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet and Freida Pinto turned up in dresses of varying shades of blue.
