New Delhi: While earlier reports have suggested that Apple may launch the next-gen iPhone, unofficially dubbed the iPhone 5S, sometime in September or October, but a Bloomberg report says it is unlikely as Apple may delay the introduction of the new iPhone, and push the launch date to the end of this year. The delay in the launch of the next-gen iPhone is said to be because Apple has apparently decided to change its design to feature a bigger 4.3-inch retina display screen.
Rumours are doing the rounds that the iPhone 5S will feature a display carrying twice the pixels than the current generation, iPhone 5. Speculations are rife that the iPhone 5S will come with a quad-core processor. Earlier reports claimed that the iPhone 5S will come with a thinner bezel, thereby adopting the iPad mini like design, and will ship in September.
Reportedly, Apple is also working on a cheaper iPhone model that could win it some market share in developing countries.
According to a report from Reuters, Apple is exploring launching iPhones with bigger screens, as well as cheaper models in a range of colours, over the next year, said four people with knowledge of the matter, as it takes a cue from rival Samsung Electronics.
Sources claim that Apple may launch the cheaper iPhones in 5-6 colours. Reportedly, Apple is planning to launch cheaper models starting at $99.
