New Delhi: Three Pakistani terrorists, who had completed their jail terms, escaped from a hospital in New Delhi days before they were to be deported from the country.
New agency PTI reported that Abdul Razzak, Mohammed Sadiq and Rafaqat Ali - who had been convicted of triggering blasts near the Red Fort in 2000 - escaped from the G B Pant Hospital in the Capital. The North District Police is questioning Sub-Inspector of Meghalaya Police D Singh, the man who was accompanying the three terrorists. Officials say it's shocking that he was the only one to be accompanying the three men. D Singh allegedly did not even call the police control room when the three escaped and the matter was reported to the district police only the next day, which means that the Delhi Police have already lost crucial time.Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, Karnail Singh confirmed that his force had not been informed that the terrorists were being taken to hospital.Singh said the three terrorists, who had completed their jail terms three months ago, were arrested with 50 kg heroin in 17 kg of RDX explosive."Alerts have been put across country and we hope to catch the terrorists on the run in next two-three days. Now, they have to face fresh trials and will be convicted again. We will take disciplinary action against the officers responsible for this. I don't understand the reason of how they escaped. In normal circumstances they would have been in Pakistan next week. We are waiting for confirmation from other side of the border." Home Secretary GK Pillai to CNN-IBN"We appeal to the people of Delhi that if they find anything they can share with the Delhi Police, they can get int touch with us through the Eye and Ear Scheme on 1090," Public Relations Officer, Delhi Police, Rajan Bhagat said. The three terrorists were to be handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration office (FRRO) for deportation to Pakistan, reported PTI. HARDLY ON ALERT Just how did three terrorists manage to give Delhi Police the slip at a time when the National Capital is on a state of alert. In their defence, the police say that the three men were not in custody, only under a restraint order.
