New Delhi: The two-day strike by trade unions nationwide strike on February 20 and 21 will hit the people hard. A meeting between central trade union leaders and the government has failed following which trade union leader G Sanjeev Reddy declared that the strike will take place as scheduled.
The trade union says that the strike has been called against the anti-people and anti-workers policies being pursued by the government. The unions have also sought and increase in the salaries pointing out that inflation has been rising at an alarming rate. Nine bank unions are also supporting the February 20 and 21 strike.
According to an estimate, nearly 2.5 crore government employees are affiliated to these unions and will be on strike for two days. While some of the impact of the strike might be blunted by the availability of internet banking, it will hit hard gas service, income tax, telecom, postal, oil service, and insurance sectors.
Moreover, state government employees would also go on strike from Wednesday.
