New Delhi: Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa is making a fresh bid for his old post. He has planned a massive show of strength in Hubli on Sunday after the High Court quashed an FIR in an illegal mining case against him. His supporters have been exerting pressure on BJP President Nitin Gadkari to reinstate him as the state's chief minister.
However, Gadkari has remained non-committal on the issue and Yeddyurappa rivals in the BJP have opposed his reinstatement.BJP sources said that the party's national general secretary Dharmendra Pradhan who is in charge of Karnataka affairs held discussions with Yeddyurappa at the latter's residence, besides having a detailed talk with national secretary Satheesh and state general secretary Santosh on the demand by Yeddyurappa's supporters to reinstate him."We don't want him (Yeddyurappa) to get into trouble after taking over as Chief Minister as there is one more case connected with the Supreme Court-monitored Central Empowered Committee report. The party's legal brains will study the import of the report likely to be submitted shortly and then give their opinion on whether our leader can safely take over the reins again," a top leader said.
