Infosys to invest Rs 500 cr in Bengal

New Delhi: IT giant Infosys is going to set up multi-technology, multi-service facility in Rajarhat near Kolkata. It has been allotted a 90-acre plot by the West Bengal government.
The area will get an SEZ status. Infosys has plans to invest about Rs 500 crore. The company also plans to employ 500 people.
Along with Infosys, another tech major Wipro will also get 90 acres of land in Rajarhat to expand its existing facility.
Both Wipro & Infosys facilities are to be part of a 1200 acre IT park, which is being developed by Webel and Akash Nirman Ltd, a Bengal-based construction company.
Out of this 1200 acres, 600 acres is being provided to the Bengal government free of cost by the Vedic realty group.
Both Wipro and Infosys had long approached Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for land but what was offered was at very high rates.
Sources say now after the tie-up with Vedic realty group they are getting land at a much cheaper rate.
The CEO of Infosys S Gopalakrishnan met Bengal Chief Minister to discuss about a 500 crore project that they plan to launch in Kolkata.
The company officials said the process of handing over the land is on. When asked about the price of the land, both State IT Minister Debesh Das and Infosys officials said it was reasonable.
"What I can say is the price is reasonable," Infosys Director, HR, T Mohandas Pai said.
"We will seek SEZ status for the Bengal project and it will be one of the best," Gopalkrishnan said.

If the numbers quoted here are true, then does it worth for a mere employment of 500 you give 90

Hopefully it won't also be another repeat of the PSU Haldia Fertilizer Factory in Haldia in Midnapore District, where questionable
