New Delhi: R K Laxman, whose creation, The Common Man, is arguably the most well recognised Indian fictional character, started his career as a cartoonist in the 1940s. The Common Man, who never speaks in the cartoons, manages to raise important issues affecting the country even today, all with a generous dose of humor. Laxman was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by CNN-IBN.
