New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket series is in the news not just for its combination of sports and entertainment, but for its official promotional ad – Cricket Ka Karmayudh, which has reportedly been inspired by an American baseball commercial.
The promotional ad, which has been splashed across television networks, looks suspiciously similar to a five-year-old Fox Sports television commercial for a baseball match featuring the Yankees.
Cricket Ka Karmayudh was created by Ogilvy and Mather India and directed by Prasoon Pandey of Corcoise films.
The ad uses the 'ink splash' treatment to highlight the cricketing action on the field, just like in the original ad for the Yankees.
The only difference between the two is that of the soundtrack. Cricket Ka Karmayudh uses the Veer Ras theme song.
So, can we expect another case of plagiarism around this?
