Bangalore: India's IT city Bangalore went to polls on Saturday. But, interestingly the IT industry was not the one leading the way.

IT Vision Group Chairman N R Narayan Murthy had said, “We want to make Karnataka the state of choice for information technology, software technology. And towards making that we have several things - improve the infrastructure, make sure the quality of life is better here, in Mysore, in Mangalore etc, make sure there's better air connectivity, there's better broadband facility, make sure that the quality of education is better."

But when he got a chance to be part of the process to change things in Bangalore, Narayan Murthy was missing. So were other IT honchos like Wipro's Azim Premji and Infosys' Nandan Nilekani.

All of them were in foreign countries when the city was voting. While they were missing in action, others like Mohandas Pai and Kiran Majumdar Shaw made sure they have a say in the political process.

However, there was a section of people who couldn't vote - thanks to delimitation.

Naveen a Bangalorean says, “I would like to vote. I am not happy to see that my entire family's name is missing and I have nowhere to find it. I have gone three different places and we have been staying in this area for 25 yrs and I don't know what happened all of a sudden."

"I have my ID card but my name, my parent's name and my 4 neighbors name are not there. We want to vote but are not able to," says Sashi another Bangalorean.

It's a city with over four lakh IT professionals complaining about poor infrastructure and fed up with hung governments, new Bangalore can vote, but simply doesn't.

Old Bangalore, on the other hand wants to vote, but cannot that's the irony that Bangalore faces on polling day.
