Mumbai: Sushmita Sen singing on stage, Shah Rukh Khan making jokes and a galaxy of stars in the crowd - it was the music release event of the new film Zindagi Rocks is what you could easily call a starry night.
It was what one could call the real big night. Famous faces from Bollywood, politics and the sports world showed up for the music release of Zindagi Rocks on Tuesday evening.
The film's lead stars, Sushmita Sen and Shiney Ahuja, took the stage and belted out a tune for the enthusiastic audience who'd dropped in to offer their best wishes to the film's producer Anuradha Prasad, wife of Congress politico Rajeev Shukla.
The center of attention, however, turned out to be movie star Shah Rukh Khan, who was full of witty one-liners including this one, which he offered when asked what he thought was the most interesting thing about Zindagi Rocks.
"Everyone's name is monosyllabic - Shiney, Kim, Sush, Tanu, Anu. But they have made a big film," said King Khan.As the film's posters indicate, Sushmita Sen plays a rock star in the film, and Shiney Ahuja her love interest.
Evidently a heroine-centric picture, Zindagi Rocks is directed by Tanuja Chandra. For the film's leading lady who made her first public appearance after a recent neck injury on the sets of the same film, there is much to be excited about.
Sushmita will soon head for South America to shoot an English film opposite Hollywood heart-throb Richard Gere.
The Richard Gere film is called Expat. It is supposed to be shot in Argentina these coming months. We are in the middle of lot of chaos because of some dates that had to be reworked because of my back injury and also his dates," says Sushmita.
Recovering from a spate of duds at the box-office, the actress shows no signs of anxiety.
On the contrary, she shrugs her shoulders and in her trademark style, comes up with a smart one when you ask her who she believes is a real rockstar:
"God is the real rockstar. We are all his puppets," says she.
