New Delhi: Shashi a 23-year-old aspiring airhostess from Jaipur was brutally stabbed by her boyfriend Ashish on March 29, simply because Ashish was against Shashi hanging out with his friends.
Ashish sought revenge when Shashi turned down his marriage proposal, which added to his fury.
Ashish called Shashi to this guest house, which was a part of his plan to kill her, both got into a bitter argument at the end of which Ashish stabbed her, before taking her to the hospital with the help of his friend Manoj.
DCP South District New Delhi, HGS Dhariwal says "They threw water on her body and cleaned all the blood and then took her to the hospital and pretended to help her."
The two initially told the hospital authorities that Shashi had fallen in the bathroom, but the doctors informed the Police after they realised that the nature of injuries was serious.
When love, betrayal and jealousy form a deadly potion when put together, which has taken many a life.
But what exactly drives people into taking such drastic measures? Psychiatrist Jitendra Nagapal explains, "People do not have the required life skills to handle volatile relationships, and celluloid too is a reason behind a lot of negativity in emotions. It's important to educate them on such issues. "
Though Ashish and Manoj have been arrested by the Delhi Police, Shashi's case brings to light the drastic influence of films on today's youth, and the desperate need to educate them.
