MURDER OF JUSTICE: Court says there is nothing in the FIR and it should be quashed
New Delhi: The Jessica Lall murder case once again put Delhi Police in the line of fire on Wednesday.
The Delhi High Court severely criticised the Special Investigation Team of Delhi Police for its report on the murder case.
Questioning the impartiality of the police force, the High Court observed police were continuing in their attempts to shield senior officers.
Here are some of the observations the HC made:
- Why was a separate FIR filed when the first FIR still existed?
- There is a conspiracy in your force to save the accused.
- Investigation is nothing but a rotten piece of paper. It’s a waste of time.
- There is nothing in the FIR and it should be quashed.
- This cannot be taken as evidence and has no bearing on the case at all.
Delhi Police said the FIR was lodged after the Delhi High Court took suo motu cognizance on the media reports showing alleged laxity on the part of Delhi Police.
The Lower Court had acquitted all the main accused in the case. However, all of them were convicted by the Delhi High Court.
