Srinagar: There has been complete chaos in Gulmarg after a daring attack by militants killed two and seriously injured four others. One of the deceased was a tourist from Uttar Pradesh.
This terror strike is the second attack in as many days in the Valley. On Saturday, Army men bore the brunt of an IED placed on the Srinagar-Baramulla road that blew up a bus, killing nine people.
"The bus was carrying unarmed soldiers on their way back home for their vacation. An IED was placed on the roadside that blew up the bus," says
The grenade in Gulmarg however, was hurled into a crowd of civilians. In the past few months, militants have engaged the police and the Army in over a dozen attacks across Kashmir - a fact that disproves the police claim that militancy has come down.
Though police have had major successes against militants this year, the militant ranks are believed to have swollen because of fresh infiltration. And police say that's the biggest worry ahead of the autumn elections.
