IN GREAT SHAPE: DLF Golf and Country Club is gearing up to host the prestigious co-sanctioned.
New Delhi: The DLF Golf and Country Club is no stranger to high profile golf tournaments.
The Johnnie Walker Classic is making its first visit to India and the DLF Golf and Country Club is gearing up to host the prestigious co-sanctioned event.
Designed by Arnold Palmer, the 7,250-yard course is the only one in the country, where a full 18-hole round of golf can be played under floodlights.
'It is an international standard golf course and we have been guided for about eight months now by European Tour. It is going to be both challenging for bad shots and rewarding for god. It is going to be quite competitive," says GM, DLF Golf & Country Club, Akash Ohri
Most of the players have already formed an opinion on playing the course, after playing in the Pro-celebrity and the Pro-Am.
"Nothing in particular would be quite a key there. The greens are very slopy as they need to. And to make a lot of good parts in a short time is very tough. The golf course is not that tough but the greens make it tougher," says World Number 77, Jyoti Randhawa.
The parkland style manicured course boasts of five lakes, 14,000 trees and waterfalls and has been sewn with a variety of grasses selected on their ability to cope with the weather.
And with fairways not as punishing as the DGC, expect some high scores this time around in the Johnnie Walker.
