Kamal Haasan's daughter Shruti Haasan performed at Mumbai's Hard Rock Cafe on Wednesday night. Rohit Khilnani caught up with the singer and asked her what she has to say about her father's 10 roles in Dasavathaaram.

Rohit Khilnani: You are ready to set the stage on fire at the Hard Rock Café?

Shruti Haasan: Yes. I am here with my band - Shruti Haasan and the Extra Mentals. We are a bunch of kids and we are here to give people a good time.

Rohit Khilnani: You've always been interested in music, right?

Shruti Haasan: Yes, I just found my way there.

Rohit Khilnani: Music is what you want to do and always wanted to do?

Shruti Haasan: I want to do a lot of things. This is just one of them.

Rohit Khilnani: When you are all set to start singing, do you get nervous?

Shruti Haasan: I get excited in a good way.

Rohit Khilnani: What will you be singing?

Shruti Haasan: Mostly original that I have written with my band. They are a lovely bunch of musicians. We have ideas, I hope they translate.

Rohit Khilnani: You are also doing Soham's film. How did that happen?

Shruti Haasan: It just kind of happened. I am very excited about it.

Rohit Khilnani: Your dad's film has just released. What have you got to say about Dasaavatharam?

Shruti Haasan: All the 10 roles are him. So all are my favourites. The movie is amazing and entertaining. I am very proud of my dad.

Rohit Khilnani: What is it like being Kamal Haasan's daughter.

Shruti Haasan: I don’t know what it’s like being Kamal Haasan’s daughter. I know what it is like being the daughter of a father who's fun, intelligent, really cool and encouraging parent. The film persona does not rub off on my life. But he's an incredible dad. Being is daughter is good.
