more Indira Naidu I feeling very bad after reading the article. Our government and NGOs are so careless, there are doing nothing. They talk so much non-sense esp. our politicians. I kindly request IBN to do something which stop polluting holy Ganga river.

Ananya I guess the Government should take serious action regarding this. This has been a story since long time..and no one bothers to take action. Is'nt it shame on our part if we are not able to stop this sacred and auspisous river from getting poluted..According to Hindu mythology river Ganga is compared with mother.this reflects the holiness of this river..poluting this river is equivalent to poluting own mother's..Not only this river..Some cautious steps have to be take by the government to prevent pollution across all river and water places..So that atleast we can draw a contol line across water polltion, because its a very well known fact that AIR POLLUTION right now is out of control..n hope water pollution will not pervade in the same path.

anjali Sanctimonious Mother
Ganga the holy mother of every Indian child is losing its piousness because to wash the waste from the industries. Illegally commissioned and operated machines producing the cosmetic and leather items. These items might be used by only few people, but the hundreds are suffering from its wastes. State administration has also failed miserably to control the pollution. The day will come soon when the pollution level will increase so high that the water of Ganga will be untouchable. Then the great holy river who has many saga linked to it and deep rooted faith of people India will lose its importance.

Amal Chaudhuri The attitude and approach of the business community are the result of ever deteriorating value base of our social lords - the all powerful politicians. In India all the required legislations for a healthy, pollution free environement are in place but enforcement of these is a matter, blatantly subjective to corruptive administrative processes. These laws are applicable for businessmen who are not willing to share their booty with the politicians and who is the fool in this edge to invest capital in business without considering the cost of violating the rules.

vijay The Government of India should come heavily on these.
Who says so. If they are not bothered on Law they should be banned doing any thing. Specially on Holy River.

vijay.

True Indian Looks like these factory owners and government people are doing more harm than the terrorists.. They are carelessly killing the innocent people and harming unimaginable amount of flaura & fauna.. Also, the river ecosystem will die in a short span of time..

Those dumb ministers in government should be kicked into jails and the factory owners should be made to drink the same water they are polluting.. only then there will be some awakening!

Sampath We indians are the most unhigenic people on this earth. Look at any city, we care damn for public places. We do everything like spit, through litter, shit etc etc., on roads, waterbodies. This is going to cost us dearly as we are degrading the environment so fast.
We must preserve this planet for future generations.

more Murtaza Abbas Mister Well this message goes out for all the hardcore hindutva guys. Before we all find reasons to tarnish each others religion, lets make our religion pure and safe.Atleast for us.i know the imporatnce of ganga in hinduism. Not many hindutva guys will gear up to clean the mess ganga has become. But if its a street fight, or a communal tension elsewhere, they are all ready 24*7.An appeal to all indians-"Lets clean the mess that we have made in our own country."

Saurabh This is just one of the many examples of how hypocrite we Indians are. The so called champions of hindutva (RSS, Bajrang dal, VHP, BJP et all) are more concerned about conversion to christianity, increasing population of muslims etc. rather than doing something for pathetic conditions of hindu symbols (like Gangaji). Ofcourse its very easy to burn a Australian preist in his sleep or, burn down a building full of people compared to doing the hard work of cleaning a river!
Same is true of average common man on the road, they will crib about the fact that Gangaji is getting dirty, but wudnt mind throwing their garbage in it...tons of plastics was recovered from stomach of a dead cow in Varanasi few years ago- just ask how many have stop using polythenes?
Isnt thats how things work in India- people shout about culture, tradition, religion as long as it does not effects them!
They will figure out one or the other excuse to justify their actions, rather than oving their hands to rectify things!
Thats why Kabir said:
"Bura jo dekhan mai chala, bura na milya koi;
Jo dil khoja aapna, mose bura na koi"
