Prashant It is nice that the linguistic diversity of India is forcing politicians to adopt less parochial postures.

manku This is nothing new. In TN, politicians like Jaya speak in Telugu and Kannada during election campaining in border districs of TN like Krishnagiri. Unlike you language fanatics, we don't mind that.

Saravanan The Indian Politician and the Political Parties have now made majority of the Indians a politician for their survival.Poor citizens without knowing the consequences have become victims.Affinity to Regional language should be appreciated but certainly not at the cost of peace.
Particularly cosmopolitan city like Bangalore cannot afford this politics if we dream of becoming a Singapore.....

sandesh Campaigning in karnataka must only be in Kannada.

Lakki This is the tragedy of Karnataka and kannadigas. Instead of getting all the migrants to repect kannada, learn kannada and get them into the mainstream of kannada culture and lifestyle, these politicians and bent upon dividing the public on the basis of langauge. The message to the public would go like this " You are a telgu, tamil or a gujrati ... no need to learn kannada,, we will talk to you in your language.. please vote for us"
what a shame national parties.. when will kannadigas learn and vote for a regional party which stands for kannadigas and karnataka?

more V.Ramaswamy Even after 60 yrs. this lot has not understood that the language of the voters is not their vernacular but only "to take care of Voter's necessities". They have understood to take care of their own necessities only by any means.

more Ahmed There was a big issue with Venkaiah Naidu speaking in Tamil in Bangalore. BJP lost it's image by allowing a leader to speak in an alien language in the heart of Bangalore. As mentioned in the article, the Kannada fervor is on a high this time around. I feel campaigning in alien languages will be a disadvantage to the candidate eventually
