Karnataka polls: EC team arrives in Bangalore

FINAL CALL: The team will review poll arrangements in 89 assembly segments in Karnataka.
Bangalore: The Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami and Election Commissioners Naveen Chawla and S Y
Qureishi arrived here on Wednesday for making a final assessment of arrangements made for the first phase of Karnataka Assembly
polling in 11 districts scheduled for May 10.
They will meet leaders of all political parties on Thursday. Later the team will review poll arrangements in 89 assembly segments, which will go to vote in the first phase, with electoral authorities and security measures with police, an official release said here.
They have cancelled tomorrow's visit to Bellary. However they have summoned observers appointed for the districts of Bellary, Chitradurga, Raichur, Koppal and Davanagere for discussions.
Top police officials of these districts, which face election in the second phase on May 16, have also been called for a meeting here on Thursday, the release said.
They will leave for Mangalore in the evening and review poll preparations on Thursday in the districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikmagalur, Shimoga and Uttar Kannda, where voters exercise their franchise in the third and final phase on May 22.
