Chhapra (Bihar): In what could be a potentially embarrassing incident for Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his parents-in-law were caught travelling ticketless in a train in Chhapra, Bihar.

Shiv Prasad Choudhary and his wife were travelling in an AC first class coach of the Sampark Kranti Express. The train was going to New Delhi from Muzaffarpur.

They were caught near the Chhapra railway station during a ticket-checking drive launched by the East Central Railway, official sources were quoted by news agency PTI as saying.

What is more embarrassing about the situation is that Chhapra is the Railway Minister's constituency.

Railway sources said they would be slapping a fine on them in accordance with the rules and issue tickets in order to legalise their journey.

Rabri Devi's family has been in controversy earlier. Last year, Lalu’s brothers-in-law, Sadhu Yadav and Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Yadav, tried to get authorities at Patna Junction to change platforms assigned to the Rajdhani and Sampoorna Kranti Express.

Subhash Yadav, was to board the Rajdhani Express from Patna Junction to New Delhi on June 19, 2006. He was waiting for the train on Platform No 1 but the train was to arrive on Platform No 3.

Subhash Yadav refused to budge from Platform No 1 insisting that the train be called there from Platform No 3 instead.
