ROAD RAGE: According to an eyewitness, the involved were on their way back from a party.
Mumbai: In a late night accident in Mumbai, a car crashed with a lamp post, while racing with another car. Two people are dead and two other are injured.
Zahid Khan, who died in the accident, was racing his car with a Qualis on the Jogeshwari-Mira road late on Saturday night. Khan’s car was allegedly speeding at 120 km per hour, twice the permitted speed limit.
According to an eyewitness, the involved were on their way back from a party.
Twenty-year-old Sufian Takiawala, 35-year-old Shahid Shaik and 27-year-old Irfan Farzan were the others who were involved. The injured have been admitted into the nearby hospital.
This however, is not the first incident of road rage in the city. Last month a group of 15 allegedly drunk, bike-riding youths beat up war veteran in a fit of road rage when they were chided about driving dangerously.
Also in September, the Bombay High court sentenced Alistair Pereira, a Mumbai youth who in a drunken state ran over seven pavement dwellers, to three years in jail.
