Noida: The ongoing Gurjar agitation for inclusion in the ST list on Tuesday received support from lawyers in Gautam Buddha Nagar of UP, leading to deferment of the bail plea of Rajesh Talwar, accused of killing his daughter Arushi and domestic help Hemraj.

The Noida police also could not move its plea in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) A K Singh seeking seven days' police remand of Dr Talwar.

''We support the Gurjar community in its fight for justice,'' said Gautam Buddha Nagar bar association president M R Verma.

Talwar is lodged in Dasna jail of neighbouring Ghaziabad district. On Friday last, Noida police had arrested city's noted dentist and the father of a teenaged Delhi Public School student after eight days of investigations into the May 15 twin murders.

Rajesh Talwar, a well-known dentist, was arrested after preliminary investigations into the killings of 14-year-old Aarushi and their servant Hemraj (45).

''For the time being only Dr Talwar has been arrested though there are several other accused in the case. The prime accused is Rajesh Talwar and he killed his daughter and servant,'' police had said.

While stressing that the killings were done because of an extra-marital affair, police said various pointers during investigations and the interrogation of the suspects led to the arrest of Rajesh Talwar.
