Mumbai: Now, all ABBA fans have another reason to sing along for a film version of the super-hit musical Mamma Mia will be releasing soon.

The tributes to Scandinavian pop band ABBA continue as the movie version of Mamma Mia gets ready to release in theatres in July.

The film, about a young woman's search for her real father, takes the journey through the most famous songs by ABBA, with Meryl Streep playing the mother, and Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard playing the potential fathers.

The music of ABBA continues to linger decades after they first burst upon the pop scene in the early 70s.

Their ‘Dancing Queen’ hit number one in the US charts while 20 singles and nine albums made it to the UK top 10 lists.

All those goofy hairdos and flashy outfits of the foursome have lived on in films like Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Muriel's Wedding, in which Toni Colette plays a woman who spends a lot of time dreaming about her wedding day and listening to all those romantic ABBA numbers.

The wedding theme continues in the stage musical Mamma Mia which has toured 16 cities across the world and has collected more than $1.6 billion at the box office.

Clearly, when it comes to milking nostalgia, the winner takes it all.
