'Stop acquisition of land everywhere'
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee demanded that the acquisition of land must be stopped everywhere, including in Singur.
New Delhi: Trinamool Congress legislators on Thursday, unleashed violence in the West Bengal Assembly, pulling down mikes and upturning furniture, after party supremo Mamata Bannerjee was forcibly stopped on her way to Singur for a rally against a proposed Tata Motors car project.
A CPI-M MLA was seriously injured while two security personnel and as many media photographers also received injuries in the unprecedented incident.
The incident took place after Bannerjee, who was arrested by police earlier in the day for violating prohibitory orders near Singur, barged inside the Assembly premises.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Assembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim was considering stringent disciplinary action against the Trinamool Congress Legislators for resorting to unprecedented violence in the House.

Describing the day as the ''blackest'' day in the country's democratic movement, the Speaker said under no circumstances, damage to some priceless property of the House could be accepted.
With a view to allowing the general public to see for themselves the extent of damage done by some of their elected representatives, he had decided to keep the House door open for them for the next three days for eight long hours from Friday.

However, he said as a precautionary measure and to prevent recurrence of any such act of vandalism, he had decided to introduce 100 more special security personnel and 40 special security women force in the House from Friday itself.
