CRIME OF PASSION: 30-year-old Amit suffocated his 28-year-old wife and then hanged himself.
Bangalore: After a software engineer from Infosys killed his wife and himself on Saturday night, their family members are baffled over their motive.
Speaking of the suicide note written by an otherwise calm and composed Amit, his uncle, Anand Malik said, “The note is written by Amit, it's a lengthy note, he must have applied his mind thoroughly as it’s such a lengthy note.
“Obviously, he appears to have written it before-hand – it is written in very composed handwriting,” Malik observed.
Police say Amit's suicide note indicates matrimonial discord as the reason for the murder. It alleged that Amit's wife had had an extra-marital affair.
But parents, friends and relatives of Amit and Rinku say that the couple, who had an arranged marriage in Delhi, appeared perfectly happy.
"We could not imagine anything like this. Both families are absolutely shocked. It’s a tremendous loss. They've left the living dead in their parents,” lamented Malik.
He said, “Previous evening (Friday) at 4o'clock, he had called up his parents – he was laughing and joking.”
When the 30-year-old Amit suffocated his 28-yrear-old wife Rinku to death and hung himself at their residence in Koramangla in Bangalore, he left a suicide note and a host of unanswered questions.
