New Delhi: It’s been an emotional road to freedom for Rajesh Talwar. After 50 days behind bars, the doctor walked out a free man, free of all the accusations levelled against him in the Noida double murder case.
With his arms around his wife Nupur Talwar, the doctor was constantly on the phone, all the way to Noida, where the family's first stop was a temple.
“We have spent the last 50 days without Rajesh. And we have sustained ourselves on two grounds: faith in God and patience. We are thankful to God. We have to share this grief together as a family,” said Rajesh’s brother Dinesh Talwar.
With more relatives joining them at the temple, the Talwars moved to the residence of Nupur Talwar's parents, just two blocks away from their own house.
But Talwar wasnt ready for what he saw - a massive media presence, onlookers and anxious neighbours. He and his family had to battle a barrage of questions and a blanket of photographers to get to the building. “It has been the biggest grief of my life. Let me share some time with my family. I thank God and CBI for their support,” he said.
Nupur too pleaded for some privacy and asked the media to let them mourn in peace. “I want all of you to pray for Arushi's soul to rest in peace. It would be great favour if you can do that much for me,” she said.
Their close friends, the Durrani's, had already reached there before the Talwars. As the media waited for another photo-op, visitors continued to arrive at the building to meet the family.
There's a huge sense of relief in the Talwar household but the happiness is marred by the tragic fact that the couple will have to learn to live life without their daughter Arushi – something they haven’t come to terms with.
