Rohit Ahuja This just shows how happy mercedes people would be after selling so many cars at double the price from western markets.Premium car companies such as mercedes, bmw etc. charge exorbiant prices as compared to the same model sold abroad.Take for the c class and 3 series both of which sell for 30000$ in the us that amounts for 12 lacs but they sell the same models with smaller engines at 30lacs+ here. These cars are being locally assembled here and attract a duty of 40%,as compared to imported cars that attract 100%.Now audi imports the its similar priced a4 and is able to sell it without problems since they have formed a cartel. Now such practice has allowed other car manufacturers to charge more margins like skoda and volkswagen etc.If mercedes and bmw would lower their price that would help in generating more volumes and create more investment and employment. This would also help India to come up as an exporter of not only cheap and small cars but premium cars also.As a reputed channel i hope you people would do a story on this and expose these unfair price mechanism present in the indian car market.
