First would like to thanks all protestors for this small victory of stopping further denigration of Hindu Deities. Secondly would like to urge all the people irrespective of any faith to stop this denigration because it is finally insult of our creator and no devotee of God would tolerate it. Would like to see protest comments from non-Hindu devotees too.

Wonder how the over/under active imagination of some senile old man on canvas can hurt the oversensitive sentiments of a religious group...makes you wonder what exactly is the meaning and relevance of religion itself.

The oversensitive sentiments of hindus are silent most of the time when movies are made comics are published and textbooks and encyclopaedias portray our religion in a dehumanising manner. I can back all that up and quote instances if you like. But somewhere one must draw the line. Others don't tolerate a cartoon or a novel. Why then must we be expected to swallow every insult?

It is about denigration of one religion over centuries while others are offended by cartoons or suggestion of a family of their messiah. Books like "Mother India" by Katherine Mayo and distortions like "Sanctuary" by Hema Ramakrishna. Movies like Indiana Jones and the propaganda by western media. It has gone on from Charles Grant and James Mills in 1800's to now.

Mr.VOX, It is neither the religious sentiment nor religious senitivity that is involved here. Man lives in a society. The society makes some rules for the happy living of its people. Family is one such unit. Father and Mother stand on the highest Pedastal and respected like Gods. "Matru,Pitru devo Bhava" That is Hindu dharma. For Hindus God and Godess are Father and Mother. Hussain has insulted my mother nad father. So he will be hunted down by the sons to the end of the world. Western families may not understand this.

The respect for deities and true art is maintained by closing down the exhibition. May this be an inspiration to other exhibitors to follow suit and preserve the sanctity of Gods and Godesses and also preserve the true art which is also another path to God realisation.

I think every guy in this wrld has the freedom of expression. But whats is important is that any section of the society, whether small or large should not be hurt with the expression. Ethics of a region is decided by the acceptance of the norms by the majority and these norms need to be followed in that region.

This guy, hussain, is a wacko !! He has not only hurt feelings of Hindus but all the INDIANs through his "Mother India" painting. I appreciate the efforts by Hindu Society in UK and would like similar protests throughout the world. Mr. Hussain is a hale old man with filthy mind. His fantasies, which he couldn't get satisfied through Bollywood movies, are taking went in the form of these paintings. Had he tried making one painting of Prophet Mohammed, he would have been history by now.

whats all this crapy religious hungama..lookx like these naive minds would never transform to a broader perspective..We worship god as a supernatural, a power not visible to our human eye, but we belive god to exist in forms..faith has to be within..all these paintings or any such forms of art cannot shake one's faith..if a petty thing like a painting can subvert the religious thoughts of people then what is the point of callin ourselves as true hindu's..or whats the point in tellin that one's reliance on god's power is from within.
( Posted: Tuesday , May 23, 2006 at 13:44 )
dear deja vu,this is not hungama as that habbitual and perverted painter called the Mental. Freak. Husein deserves all condemnation as in the name of freedom of expression he has deleberately selected hindu gods for his ugly mindset to put into his paintings. He thought that he could at least sell them to the west and call the indians as communal. You know what, suppose he had drwan something on the prophet to which faith he belongs he would have been erased from this planet or his hands chopped off.We have seen how the muslims reacted on the controversial cartoon.and now the famous for tolerance and 'love they neighbour' community who have been advocating others to respect the freedom of speech want a fiction called Da vinci code to be banned.what kind of logic or double standards are these.
( Posted by stopperbhai on )
true..i would give a 100% vote on your words..like u said if he would have drawn on the prophet then he would have seen his days on earth..but what i am saying is rather what i am asking is..y shud v also react in such a way..half of them time he is in the limelight no matter whether its on the positive front or negative front..y shud he need to be on the lime light always on such subvert issues..such things would be better off if it is just ignored..we respect our tradition n our religion to the core of our hearts..but v cannot expect such a person to rspect our religion..so whats the point in grumping him about whats he has done..or in trying to teach him the sacredness of hinduism..
( Posted by deja vu on )
Most of the propaganda against hinduism like Marvel comics or Indiana Jones or missionary pamphlets go unopposed. You may think these are not important and cannot hurt hinduism but they create a negative image of hinduism and hindus in the mind of others. For example if a westerner has its first impression of hinduism from a book like Mother India all he/she will think it is a world negating superstitious religion with violent and depraved rituals. That is why US and UK hindus aware of such discrimination have far more spine in such protests than we here in India where only hardliners like Shiv Sena protest.

Dear. Mr.stopper bhai i would also like to add on a few more words..as you called him mental..do u expect such a person, to understand the sacredness of hindu religion..i dont think so..no way..its all waste in even criticising him..i would put in clear words that any person, who would respect all religions rather all human's feelings would not do it..so y do u think we shud even throw words at him tellin that he is playing the fool with himself n no one else..
( Posted by deja vu on )
The issue is the denigration of hinduism in the media as a religion that promotes incest violence depravity and wierd rituals. This was and is still being done by missionaries since 1800's. Much of that propaganda still has gone without opposition. But somewhere we should draw the line.

I think Mr Hussain deliberately tries to hurt hindu sentiments. His film Meenaxi was withdrawn by him coz one line in a song hurt the sentiments of muslims... And he wants hindus to be open to every thing he paints... be it nude gods and godesses . If he wants tolerance from one religious sect then why for is he baised towards other sect, why did he withdraw the movie ?

Disfiguring the sentiment Portrait with an obscene gesture is striking on our morality and past rich culture for which we are proud of. It is really unfortunate to see such unexpected ill-intentioned sketch from such a famous personality in the arena of painting. In many such occasions he is entangled with controversy. We the people of India no way like to see the insult of our past treasure our culture. So with all possible means deterring him from such activities will help our country to create and maintain the dominance of our cultural heritage in front of the rest of the world.
