Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met his arch rival and senior BJP leader Keshubhai Patel at his residence on Tuesday evening and took his blessings.

Modi, who took his third consecutive oath as the Chief Minister at the Sardar Patel Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, met Keshubhai to seek his blessings for success in his third term in the Chief Ministerial post.

Both leaders held a one-on-one closed-door meeting for about 30 minutes.

Political observers said the meeting was an attempt by Modi to shrink differences between the two that had emerged during pre-poll time over the issues of leadership and selection of candidates by the party's central leadership.

Welcoming Modi in his home, Keshubhai offered him sweets as mark of celebration of BJP's jubilant victory of in the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly polls.
