Modi visits Surat, sounds war cry against terrorism

WAR ON TERROR: Modi announced a reward of Rs 51 lakh for information leading to terrorists.
Surat: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi visited the places from where live bombs were found in the diamond city and reviewed the situation.
Terming the attacks as a proxy war on terror, Modi announced a reward of Rs 51 lakh for information leading to terrorists involved in the serial blasts in Ahmedabad and planting of bombs in Surat.
“This is a part of a conspiracy to attack India’s economic centers. Therefore, these attacks on Ahmedabad and Surat. This a proxy war and unless we follow the same rules as followed during wartime, these attacks will continue,” he said.
Eighteen live bombs were found on Tuesday from Varacha area, which houses maximum number of diamond units. All of them were defused.
Modi was accompanied by state Food and Civil Supplies Minister Narottam Patel and state police chief P C Pande.
Modi also held a meeting with top police officials of the city after visiting the sites. Schools, colleges, shopping malls, parks and public places have been asked to remain shut on Wednesday by city Police Commissioner RMS Brar as a precautionary measure.
