Mumbai: Move over Superman and Batman, time to make way for the Indian superhero. UTV is all set to tie up with Virgin Comics to create new Indian superheroes for the screen.

While Virgin Comics has created some homegrown comicbook heroes and heroines in the past, with Devi leaping from the comic book to the mobile screen and Ramayan becoming an online video game, their tie up with UTV will see them taking their new heroes to the big screen.

Says Virgin Comics CCO, Gotham Chopra, "We certainly think that the creative potential of India should be the source of the new generation and a new universe of superhero characters."

The creators of the series certainly took note of the stupendous success of Bollywood's superhero flick Krrish.

Says UTV Vice-President,Vikas Bahl, "Well you always get inspired when something does well and if Krrish probably hadn't done so well, maybe you would think of it in another manner. But it's always encouraging to see something do well and then take it to the next level."

The comic books will be released at the end of this year and the movies will follow shortly. And they're definitely hoping to show their super powers at the box office!
