Mumbai: The Mumbai police is likely to issue a fresh show cause notice to MNS chief Raj Thackarey on Tuesday morning seeking an explanation as to why the gag order issued against him should not be extended.

Raj Thackarey was first served a gag order on the 11th February banning him to speak to the media or even hold public meetings. This order was further extended on the Feb 25th Feburary till Monday midnight.

However, some Marathi and Bollywood film stars including Nana Patekar have come out in support of Raj Thackeray's anti-migrant politics.

The MNS's agitation against North-Indian migrants to Mumbai may have come to an end with the Bombay High Court having issued a gag order against the MNS chief. However, Raj Thackeray has now got the support of members from the Marathi film industry and also Bollywood.

A letter has been signed by Nana Patekar and several other film stars from the Marathi film industry in support of Raj Thackeray.

The letter says that the points made by Raj Thackeray make sense. And that the issues raised by him cannot be ignored. The letter also adds that the local culture needs to be respected.

Patekar’s letter also states, "If it is wrong for sons of the soil to ask for their rights, why do they ask for domicile certificates in this country? Why can't we then buy land in Kashmir?"
