Mumbai families fight 7/11 ghost
Mumbai: The only visible sign of life that 21-year-old Amit Singh has shown since July 11, 2006 is the blinking of his eyes.
Amit fell victim to the bomb blast on the Virar bound local and has since been in a coma in the ICU of Jaslok Hospital. But that doesn't deter Amit's father from hoping that his son will take the next step towards improvement. The father’s coaxing to the son to respond has become almost a daily struggle.
“He blinks his eyes but that's not enough, he has to get back his voice,” says Amit's father, Dinesh Singh.
But Dinesh isn't the only one who is making such efforts. In the city’s Hinduja Hospital the same prayer is shared Parag Sawant's family as well. Parag has shown no signs of improvement after the Mumbai serial blasts, not even when his wife gave birth to a daughter three months after the bombings.
Life may have moved on for the rest of the city, but for the families of Parag Sawant and Amit Singh it has stood still since the July 11 bombings.
“I can only request the best doctors to come and look at my son and examine him so he becomes fine,” says Dinesh Singh.
