New Delhi: It seems music director Pritam Chakraborty has taken the plagiarism charges seriously. Now, he wants to reclaim his position as a talented and original composer. Listen to Barfi songs if you dont believe it.
A new song of Barfi called Kyon has got good response after the lyricist of the film Neelesh Misra posted the link to the audio of the song on the micro blogging site Twitter. The song has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Angaraag Mahanta aka Papon. The song reminds the listeners the era of Woh Lamhe, Ankahee and Life in a Metro, when Pritam came up with songs that had minimalist approach towards instrumental support. Pritam has this ability of catching the right note of a singers voice. Remember the song Mummy ko nahi hai pata from the film Chocolate. Though the film remained in oblivion, the song showcased the range of Sunidhi Chauhans voice. Sunidhi has lent her voice to many item numbers but very few of them actually used her to the fullest, most of the times she is asked to reach her highest possible pitch. Pritam judiciously blended her energy with the right kind of expressions.Recently released Cocktail was another feather in Pritams cap. Fun was amalgamated with the philosophical approach of the lyricist in Tumhi ho bandhu.Aala Barfi and Main kya karoon are also good songs but Kyun has a soothing effect, a rare virtue for todays songs. At a time, when every composer is focusing on groovy numbers, filmmaker Anurag Basu and Pritam should be credited for creating such a lovely song.Even filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is in awe of Pritams music in Barfi, he tweets, With Barfi Pritam has reinvented himself. Wow soundtrack. Till the time, plagiarism charges get confirmed, keep listening to the genuinely heart wrenching Kyun.####
